Visitor Days at the Library are free to attend but require advanced registration. Reserve your spot by selecting your day and time.
Visiting the Library
The Class of 1945 Library is a private, high-school library with a mission to support the educational and residential needs of the community at Phillips Exeter Academy. Our building is extraordinary, and the interest in visiting is high.
Building access control is one important way we endeavor to ensure the safety and security of Academy members in the Library. We are unable to accommodate drop-in visitors.
We are only able to welcome visitors under the following parameters:
Researchers:
The collections of the Archives and Special Collections are available by appointment. In order to make materials available, we need advance notification. Please submit a request form.
Our catalog of regular collections is online. Requests for any of those materials should be made through your school or public library via interlibrary loan.
All other visitors (including alumni):
Our building attracts visitors from around the globe and throughout the year. To protect the privacy and security of the children in our care, we host a variety of Visitor Days throughout the year, permitting registered visitors to enjoy self-guided tours. Visits are limited to specific dates (see below) and registration is required.
During Your Visit:
Visitors have the status of guests and are required to sign the visitor log at the Service Desk.
Visitors may not have any contact with students or solicit them in any way at any time.
Taking photographs, video, or digital images that include any members of the Phillips Exeter Academy community is prohibited.
Alumni are “visitors” to the library unless they are registered on campus for Reunions or have scheduled an accompanied visit with Institutional Advancement.
Visitor Days
We offer several Visitor Days throughout the year. During these days we offer a Self-Guided Tour for individual and large groups. If your travel cannot be adapted to these dates, your visit will be limited to the exterior of the building.
