Funding EMI

The Exeter Mathematics Institute is a unique, non-profit enterprise sustained through generous philanthropic support from foundations, corporations, individual donors, and occasionally district self-funding.  All salaries and expenses for the workshops are funded through EMI's yearly budget. Each district is responsible for making available an appropriate workshop site and, when necessary, providing access to computers and graphing calculators.

Exeter is currently seeking multi-year funding that will allow EMI to continue to visit districts with which it already has established relationships or to launch workshops in new districts. Based on past experience, EMI's director and core instructors generally prefer to establish long-term relationships with participating districts, finding that such partnering creates greater synergies and benefits for the given area. While EMI has traditionally offered workshops in urban school districts, its director and core instructors are committed to working with any district that wishes to improve its mathematics education.
