Girls hockey team celebrates New Year's Tournament win
The girls varsity hockey team stunned undefeated Brewster Academy in a thrilling and tense sudden-death contest to become champions of the first annual Exeter Invitational New Year's Tournament. "From the drop of the first puck to the 2:31 sudden-death overtime goal, the girls never let up," said Coach Melissa Pacific.
The first period was a scoreless one despite great action at both ends, as Exeter and Brewster swapped exciting scoring chances.
At 9:12 in the second period, Exeter scored first. Lauren Greer '09 made a perfect breakout pass to upper Cristina Bravi. Bravi skated hard down the middle of the ice and fired a low, fast shot from the high slot using Brewster's own defenseman to screen the goalie.
